In Pictures: Saturday’s march of an independent Scotland in the EU inspired a nation

Tens of thousands gathered in Edinburgh to march in support of an Independent Scotland in the EU on Saturday, our best chance of unravelling the disaster of Brexit and opening up our full links with Europe once again.

Our co-leaders Lorna Slater and Patrick Harvie joined Humza Yousaf and SNP Ministers, our Scottish Green bloc including our Westminster candidate Cameron Eadie, and some 25,000 others for the event.

It was a day of colour, flags and passionate speeches, a time of hope, and a message that all across our nation the fight for Scottish independence not only goes on but is growing in strength by the hour.

In the media, Bright Green covered Lorna Slater’s speech to the crowd where she told how the powers of independence could see Scotland return to Europe. The National quoted her saying we can be the ‘Scotland of Kenmure Street not Downing Street’, with STV News covering events on the day too.

On the same morning, it was revealed Humza Yousaf has also moved to fulfil his pledge to Mark Ruskell on hosting a climate summit of political leaders and others to work together to tackle the dangers facing our environment.

It was the subject of Lorna Slater’s column in today’s Edinburgh Evening News, where she also wrote: In 2014 we missed the opportunity to build a modern and welcoming democracy and a brighter future for ourselves and future generations. We can't let that opportunity go by again.

Here are just a few of the memories from the day to enjoy.
